Onion Cells

With this experiment we want to learn how to make preparations for the microscope and be able to recognize the Cell Wall and the Nucleus of the onion cells.

Materials: onion, slide, cover, methylene blue and microscope.

1. Cut the onion.

2. Separate 3 or 4 layers.

3. Pick the skin between the layers.

4. Place a piece of the skin in the slide.

5. Put a drop of methylene blue in the preparation and leave it for 1 minute.

6. Place the cover and look in the microscope first with 4X and then with 10X.

We saw that when we look to the microscope in 4X we can see the cells of the onion in blue and when we look in 10X we can see a very little circle that it's call the nucleus.

Hello everyone, and WELCOME!

Hello World!

Welcome to our P6 Science Experiments blog!. You are invited to take a look at the news about our class activities. We have made groups to work together, do the experiments, write about how we prepare everything, the results we get and the conclusions we come to.

We would like to hear that you try our experiments at home or in your own schools, also we will appreciate your opinions and also if you have got any suggestions to help us out.

So, let's get started as soon as possible.

See you.
