Homemade Projector

This time we were studying THE EYE in Natural Science and we decided to make something related doing a Homemade Projector. We could experiment with the orientation and the size of the images that changed depending on the magnifying glass

Materials: Shoe Box, cardboard and paintings (for decorating), Magnfying glass, scissors, celo tape, white paper, smartphone.

1. Trace the shape of the magnifying glass on one of the short sides of the box and cut it out

2. Decorate the box

3. Tape the magnifying glass on its place

4. Place the smartphone inside the box, with the sceern looking at the magnifiying glass, and play a video in the highest resolution and brightness that you can and close the box.

5. Use a white paper in front of the projector to see the image.

We had to play moving the smartphone closer or further to the magnifying glass and do the same with the paper to find the perfect spot to see the image big and focused. We also realized that the magnifying glass turns the image upside down, like the lenses of our eyes do.

Can Plants Move?

With this experiment we want to see if plants can move because they want to. This could be caused by the interaction of plants with the sun, because they are living things and they interact with the environment. We will put the carrots upside down and see if the leaves grow on their normal direction or if they grow up looking for the sun.

Materials: One carrot with leaves, a small spoon, a wooden stick  and thread .

1. Cut 3-4 cm from the top of the carrot and cut the leaves leaving 2 cm of them attached to the carrot.

2. With the spoon empty the inside a bit { carefully }.

3. Push the stick through the carrot .

4. Hang the carrot with the leaves down with the thread .

5. Water it inside the hole and observe for a week.

Conclusion:  Our carrots died because at the weekend no one was in the school to water them, but we could see how some leaves that had just started growing, were growing up following the sun.
